Mud coat done

Nicole and I finished the mud coat in Brittany's room. I am so relieved to get that done. Nicole got all the sanding done, so it will be ready to start second coating on Monday. That will take about a week or so. I will have a break in the middle as Dad and the kids and I will be going to North Dakota to get mom. Can't have summer anymore without a road trip! At least my kids travel well and it is only a 12 hour drive.

Lagoon Day

We went to Lagoon today for a UTVA field trip. It was lots of fun. There were lots of schools there for a Lagoon day. We got there this morning and it was a beautiful day. We went on lots of rides, thanks to Joe and Nicole, who came with us, we were able to let those kids who wanted to ride go and those who didn't want to ride stand out. It was lots of fun to just go where we wanted and not worry about the time (we bought season passes). David and Cody, his friend, went on just about everything, even the Wicked. After lunch it rained REALLY hard for about 20 minutes. We sat under a tree and waited it out. They closed lots of the rides and so we just hung out. When the rain finally stopped we went on a few more rides and then it started raining again. The park closed at 4:00 today, so we started walking back to the car and it started hailing! It was so bad that we took cover under the eaves of a building. It hurt bad to get hit by the hail. When the hail stopped we took off running through the rain, again. By the time we got to the van we were all as wet as if we had stepped out of the shower. It was lots of fun. It will be lots of fun to go and not have to worry about trying to get it all in on one day. We are looking forward to going again.

Drywall done

We now have the drywall up in Brittany's room. Brian, Nicole, David, Brittany, and I got it all hung on Saturday. Nicole and I got most of the tape coat of mud done. I will work on getting it finished (the first coat) on Wednesday.

Brittany's Room

We have finally started on Brittany's room! We took everything out, including the carpet, so it would be easier to work in. The first thing we have done is rebuild two of the walls. We have a broken water shut-off valve that needed to be hidden behind a wall, but it was sticking out too far. We just built another wall over the top of it. We also had a wall that didn't match up with the rest of that same wall, so we just built another wall right in front of that one too. It didn't take too long to do that actual building. It did take, however, many hours of planning so that it would go together and look good. I am now ready to start putting the drywall up and then the task of mudding (my least favorite). I am planning a month to get it all done. I hope that is enough time. I really don't want to drag this out much more than that. I want to have some fun this summer. But, I do enjoy creating something wonderful from nothing.
